A day of rest today. Some walking around the city centre or sitting on a terrace for a cup of coffee, a bite to eat and watch city life unfold. However we mainly stayed in our room on our beds resting our feet, which actually gives me the oppertunity to do some blogging.
I happened to read some statistics on the Camino the other day and already by the end of May a little more than 70.000 people/pilgrims had collected their Compostela in Santiago! We have to expect long ques to collect the document when we get there. It also appears that the amount of women doing the Camino increases every year and women's share is by now up to 45% of the total. Whereas in France we saw few young people on the Voie de Vezelay, we see a great deal of young people on the Camino Frances, as well as middle aged people and they come from many different countries such as the US, Canada, Germany, France, Holland, Italy (a majority of Italiens apparently favour the bicycle), Ireland, Britain and Spain of course. One also notices the odd Chinese, Japanese and South Korean, whom by the way cover them selves up completely against the sun with long trousers, long arms, gloves, a hat, sunglasses and a face cloth (buff) over chin, nose, neck and ears such that no skin is visible at all. A little creepy if you ask me. Apparently they do this so as not to get brown and look like a ''common labourer'' in their home country.
Tomorrow we take the alternative route (in order to stay away from the main road N-120) to a place called Villar de Mazarife, some 20 km.

Good luck.
