20 June Tricastela - Sarria 19 km
20 juni 2017 - Villar De Mazarife, Spanje
Another hot day, but a walk through a beautiful countryside with wide green valleys on both sides of good paths and sparcely trafficked roads. I got acquinted with various fellow pilgrims and talked among others to a Dutch couple who had started in Bordeaux and an elderly German called Josef. He was limping very slowly up the path as his left leg was notably shorter than his other leg. I had passed him a couple of times that morning, but each time I had a break he passed me again. He was having a hard time in the heat so I asked if there was anything I could do, but he said "Es geht zimlig gut''. It appeared he had a hipjoint of steel and he could only stand on the toes of his left leg (!). But still he kept a steady pace of 2 km per hour and had started from Saint Jean on the 16th of May, incidentally the same date as Sander and me departed from there (!) He even carried his own back pack and didn't care much for the many people who don't.
Respect for Josef who has walked all this way with a limp.

Hug
