Chatillon -Verrès, 20km 14.09.22
14 september 2022 - Verres, Italië
The landlord got it right and provided an excellent breakfast as agreed even with a boiled egg which seems to be quite unusual in Italy. This morning it rained a little bit. I didn't get my rainwear out as I hoped it would cease after a while, which it fortunately did. Normaly I would have walked with Reto & co, but they stayed in a different place and departed much earlier than I did. I followed a really nice track high up on the slopes past St. Vincent (took a lot of pictures), but thereafter it went up and down and up and down and so on. So in the end it became a rather tough 20 km to Verrès also in the heat of the afternoon and I didn't arrive until 16:30. I took it slowly and enjoyed a long lunch with a young Italian couple from Breschia (Nathalie and Luca) that I had met a couple of times previously. We all walk the same stages and stay in the same villages or towns. Met up with Reto, Jean Luc and Caroline again and had a good home cooked meal in the youth hostel where we are staying for the night. (Il Casello)
The other day I noticed that a little piece of my shoe sole is missing. They are very good to walk on and I hope they last the trip, but I fear the worst. The underground has been tough on them.
To morrow only some 15km to Port St.Martin so as to spare my feet a little. So far it has been hard work walking these stages, but I enjoy it immensely.
Have a good night/day
