Echevennoz - Aosta, 15 km 12.09.22
12 september 2022 - Aosta, Italië
To day much like yesterday comming down from the mountain so to speak. Phenominal path from Echevennoz along a small irrigation channel through the woods with the occasional breathtaking view of far away snow peaked mountains and small villages in green valleys. The last 5 km however we had to descend some 700 steep meters. That was hard on the feet and I don't know why, but my calv muscels started hurting. Lets hope they last longer than this. I also lost a bit of my right shoe sole (New shoes!). Upon arrival in Aosta at 1300 hrs we had a delicious salat Caprese for lunch in one of the old streets and 3 of our group went a little further for the night whereas Caro and me found rooms in town. We meet up again to morrow in Chatillon. A rather long trip of 27,5 km in expected temperatures of up to 28 degrees. So we try an early start. Aosta is a lively old town with cosy streets, restaurents and shops. There are the old square and remnants of Roman fortifications. Absolutely worth a visit. I had some extra warm clothes with me across the Alpes in case it would get cold which I don't think I'm going to need anymore. Some of these I have now sent home from the post office. Took me an hour and 40 Euro's, but it also makes my backpack 1,8 kg lighter! I am in good spirits and ready to go on and see what's coming. Take care!
Hartelijke groet,
Elisabeth
