Garlasco - Pavia 24.5 km 22.09.23
23 september 2022 - Pavia, Italië
Arrived i Pavia, the capital of Lombardia walking tbrough the Ticino valley and along the meandering river Ticino. I even had a swim in the strong current during the lunch break. Wonderful it was! Pavia is a nice old Roman town with a Duomo and of course several other churches among others one where they keep the remains of St. Augustine who lived around the year 400 and is considered the godfather of the Christian religion. As I have a rest day to day the 23 rd, I am writing this sitting at the outdoor swimmingpool of a spa Hotel just south of Pavia. A beautiful garden and all although the hotel otherwise provides little value for money. Had a look around Pavia this morning. it is a lively student town as it has a very old university and the streets are packed with people. Sadly enough most of my fellow pilgrim friends have ended this year's trip and travelled home. Now only the Australian couple Neill and Anne, Margareth and Caroline are still on the road to Roma beside myself. I will especially miss young people as Luca and Natalia as they were an extremely nice couple to be with. The trail brings me close to La Spezia, which again is close to Cinque Terre. To go along Cinque Terre has long been a wish of mine, so now is my chance. Luca and Natalia say they would love to come to La Spezia to walk Cinque Terre together with me if possible. So looking forward to that!
To morrow onwards 28 km to Santa Cristina. The weather forecast says there will be some rain all day, but I can hardly believe that given the nice weather to day.
Talk to you later 😎
Jij ook buen viaggio!
