Verrès - Pont St. Martin, 16km 15.09.22

To day I walked by myself, only 16 flat kilometers mainly along the river Dora. So that was easy and can almost be considered a rest day in perfect weather ☀️

On some parts of the trail, the surface of the old Roman main road from Rome through the Aosta valley to Aosta are stil visible as you can see by the cart tracks worn out in the limestone. I have been walking on a road where Roman emperors, soldiers and merchants have been travelling since before Christ! See photo of cart tracks.

It was difficult to find accommodation in town, so I had to walk a bit further to a very basic BnB   on the main road out of town. (Hotel Carla). By the way I must congratulate my sister Carla (!) with her birthday to day. Many happy returns Carla! 🥂💐

Had to venture back into town to get something to eat. No restaurants or what so ever, so I got a shiskebab with a salad in a take away. It was good and cheap. The town is called after the old Roman bridge which is its main attraction. I'll attach some photo's.
