14 - 15 June San Juan de la Vega - Rabanal del Camino - Molinaseca 24 + 24 = 48 km
15 juni 2017 - Villar De Mazarife, Spanje
On the night to the 14th of June I found I needed some time for my self the next day and Hans agreed that we walk each on our own the next day and have some time to think and reflect on the continuation of our walk together as we unavoidably have our differences as brothers so to speak.
Astorga appeared to be a nice city with a Cathedral and an bishop's palace worth a picture.
Had some more breakfast and continued on through several villages to Rabanal del Camino where Hans arrived ca. 2 hours before me and we stayedat a wonderful little hotel called Rural Casa Indie. Nice personell and the room was large, quiet and cool due to the thick stone walls. Recommended!
The 15th of June. Congratulations to my daughter Brigitte who has her birthday. Love you! After a good breakfast with a fried egg on toast we started on our way to Cruz de Fierro (the iron cross) which meant climbing from an elevation of 1150m to 1550 m . At the cross we took the obligatory pictures and I dropped the stone which I had with me from Norway. It was a tough walk, extremely hot with temperatures up to 35 degrees C, so we were sweating profusely on our way down to Molinaseca at an altitude of 550m. A pretty steep descend on an at times difficult path. Molinaseca appears to be a very nice village and we were extremely lucky with our choise of Hostal La Palacio right accross the bridge. A beatiful location with comfortable 2 person bedrooms. Also the restaurant on the other side of the road can be recommended. Good food and life spanish music.
As today was quite exhausting we walk only 18 km tomorrow to Camponaraya.

Net Templar kasteel in Ponferrada bezocht. Mooi!
Rest nog 10 km vandaag....
Met de hitte, welke wij nu hebben, zal het best zwaar zijn.
Ik wens jullie succes en drink veel water extra.
Liefs van Marian.
