22 - 23 June Portomarin - Palas de Rei - Castañeda 25 + 24 km = 49 km

23 juni 2017 - Castañeda, Spanje

Thursday the 22nd we left Portomarin in a low hanging mist and every now and then it felt like it was raining small droplets. Hence it was moist and quite cool and a good temperature for walking all day. Lots of pilgrims on the trail and everybody had a good time. However I was glad to arrive at our lodgings as my feet were aching and felt sore after 25 km. A good nights rest will do the trick and cure such ailments. The afternoon we met with a bunch of Dutch and Belgian people which we have know for some time now. Good fun.
The 23rd the mist had lifted and with quite agreeable temperature we walked to the small village of Castañeda. A nice walk over hills and through forests, some of which had a lot of eucalyptus trees and otherwise fir and oak. Casa Milia appeared to be situated outside of the village and thus we dined and enjoyed ourselves together with a group of German pilgrims who also stayed there and who clearly were in the party mood.... (They are still singing while I'm writing this in bed)
Tomorrow only 19 km to Brea. Hostal "The Way".

Hope those German pilgrims don't keep you awake! Thanks again for writing, even though you obviously are tired. Here we have had a rather wet and cold St.Hans, did not bother to go out for bonfires. Good luck on the remaining camino!

Ruikt lekker toch de eucalyptus! Ongeveer vanaf Salceda kom je door hele bossen met prachtige bomen ik bleef aan het foto's maken. Trouwens ik mis jouw foto's ook!
    Buen camino
