Castelnuovo Magra - Massa 18 km, 6th of October

This morning after a good but sweet breakfast back on the road on my own again. Leonardo doesn't have enough money for the trip and didn't want to be dependent on me (so he says) He has been carrying a tent around since from northern Germany and wants to use it again to save money. To day a boring long stretch of asfalt before reaching a beautiful path in the mountains to Massa which incidentally is a very nice old/modern town. Normally one would walk in two days to Lucca (50km), but as it at present is difficult to find accommodation halfway in Camaiore, I have decided to do 3 stages and stay overnight in Pietrasanta and Valpromaro before reaching Lucca on Sunday. Here in the Ostello Palazza Nizza I finally found a washing machine and did some laundry including my trousers with my sunglasses and wireless earphones still in the pockets 🥴. Needless to say the earphones don't work anymore which is a shame as I like to listen to music or a podcast when I walk on my own. Have to get some new ones somewhere on the way to Rome. Guess whom I met here in the Ostello again: the Finish couple Tuulla an Yarri! Hugs were in order.

Nothing much else to report other than that I share a room with 3 Spaniards, of which one is walking from Barcelona to Jerusalem via Rome and another walks from Rome to Santiago. The third just came in, so I don't know what his plans are. There are many roads to and from Rome so to speak.
