Rest day in Siena - Ponte d'Arbia 26.km 16 and 17 October

Yesterday (Sunday) a rest day in Siena. After a good breakfast in the B&B I took to the Piazza del Campo in the center of town to meet up with Peter who had slept in a hostel and took in the atmosphere with a coffee on one of the terraces. We went to see the Siena Cathedral both outside and inside and it is just impressive and magnificent and a lot of pictures were tajen. We visited some other museum as well after which we just relaxed with a beer and a Pasta. In the evening we had agreed to meet up with Leonardo, Tuulla and Yarri and Caroline with some friends of hers for dinner. We were nine and had some good food and wine with lovely people. 

To day we started from Siena at 08:30 for a 26 km walk to Ponte d'Arbia in very nice weather. In the afternoon it actually was quite hot with temperatures of around 25 to 26 km. A beautiful scenery with ploughed fields surrounded us walking on white gravel covered paths. We arrived at 16:30 pm and walking has become easier and less painful for me now with the new shoes and thin socks. As a lot of pilgrims would stop at Siena, we didn't see any others on the trail which was quite to my liking.
