Sutri - Campagnano - La Stora 27 + 24 km, 27 and 28 October

Yesterday a walk mainly over unpaved paths through a beautiful hilly landscape covered with parklike forests of big oak and chestnut trees with undergrowth. (the paths are almost all the way covered with chestnuts, oak nuts and the fallen leaves of these trees). Further more there are the endless plantations of hazelnut- and olive trees. Wide views with the occasional farmhouses, cypresses and parasol pines. After a wonderful swim in the cool water of the river Treja I followed a beautiful path along the river and met up with Peter and Allesandro and even further with Caroline, Monica and her companion Johannes. In Campagnano we all had dinner of local dishes and plenty of wine to make a rather pleasant evening. 

To day I left Campagnano with Peter and Allesandro and we had many discussions and a pleasant albeit alternative route of some 20 + km among others along a beautifully wooded river bed/ valley to La Storta. 

Tomorrow remain 20 odd kilometers to Rome and the Vatican. We'll try to meet up with the others and see if we can enter Rome together with as many of my Camino friends as possible.

Allthough I am not religious in any way, I'll be joining the pilgrimsmass in the Dutch church of the Vatican on Sunday and on Wednesday there is this audition with the Pope as a once in a lifetime event. Stay tuned!
