Itri - Formia 11 November 2022

It's 11th of November. Birthday of my eldest son. Gratulere så mye med dagen Sander. Håper den blir fin. Eg er glad i deg!

Yesterday good weather for walking, some 23 degrees from a somewhat bleak sun. The trail of 21km to day took me up to 350 'm and suddenly there was the Tyrrhenian Sea again.

This reminds of what my sister Ella mentioned the other day in a comment. Curiosity is definitely an important driver for me to do this trip. Not one day is the same! What's around the next bend, what is the path and the next village like, can I get a cup of coffee, what's my accommodation like, what's the landscape like and so on. Most importantly, what will I experience, what or who will I meet and interact with? Curiosity is one of the pillars of this adventure and now I'm curious as to what I meet on my way and what it's like to cross over to the other side of Italy and Bari (if I can make it?)

A nice dog (for once!) decided to keep me company for a while and we became friends immediately. He was somewhat unkempt but well fed from all the domestic waste that is laying along the roads and he was just in need of some affection. He stuck his nose several times under my armpit when I had  a break, kept guard and chased some other dogs away when they barked at me and came to close. If I could I would have adopted him.

The scenery was just beautiful and I descended to the village of Gaeta on the coast. Arriving at the beach, I quickly took off my clothes when nobody was watching and skinnydipped in the sea to cool off. Great! 

Then onwards to Formia. Another and much busier town a little more south along the coast. I booked this nice BnB Cicero with a balcony and a view of the sea and the harbour and standing on this balcony in the sunset I decided to take a rest day as my feet are sore and seem to need some rest. To day is going to be hot with the sun burning from a blue sky so I'll hand wash my pants and hang them to dry on the balcony in the sun. Then on to the beach for a longed after lazy day and a swim.
