Sermoneta - Sezze 7 November 2022

As I had this BnB in Latina Stazione, I first had to walk around 5 km to Sermoneta which ment a steep climb up to the village of some 250 'm altitude as it is located on a hill top. Sermoneta is a nice medieval village and I would think tourists find their way here in the season. However, now it was quiet and a lot of restaurants and bars had already closed for the winter it seemed. After a capucho and a large piece of lemon cake I went on to Sezze over this scenic road that gradually transformed into a narrow cart and muddy track through the mountains. Unexpectedly at some 400 'm altitude large farm fields turned up where cows, sheep and goats grazed. There were also large areas where wine grapes were grown and it was all just beautiful to look at in this sunny blue sky weather. After several km through this cultivated landscape the descend to Sezze started and I was back in the wild on a rough path covered with limestone rocks and boarded with wild cactus and the like. Sezze was still a long way and it was time for a pick nick lunch with this fantastic view to Sezze and down onto the flatlands and the Med in the west.

In Sezze I found my BnB with some difficulty as it was well hidden in the narrow streets.  I've got this whole 3 story cold house to myself as there are no other pilgrims on the road anymore and I get  a bit melancholic of wondering around town and in this house all by myself. As it is Monday all restaurants are closed and I got hold of a beer and a take away Pizza which was very good. 

There is no accommodation in the next place that can be reserved, so tomorrow I'll have to knock on the door of the Abbazia di Fossanova, the local abbey for a place to sleep.
