17 - 18 June Camponaraya - Trabadelo - O Cebreiro 25 + 19 km = 44 km

19 juni 2017 - O Cebreiro, Spanje

Two beautiful, but hot and tiresome days for walking this stretch of the Camino Frances.
Hans can do without breakfast and decided he wanted to start early and was on the road by 06:15 whereas I need some food and coffee to get started so I usually start at ca. 07:45 or there abouts. Hans walks faster than me and is usually at the next place around 12:00 - 12:30 while I arrive normally between 14:30 and 15:00 hrs walking my pace, enjoying the scenery, taking pictures and plenty of breaks to eat and drink and rest my feet.
My feet seem to get more tired for every day and I am actually looking forward to get to Santiago where we estimate to arrive next Sunday (25th) or Monday (26th) which means one more week of walking.
We have booked our overnight stays 4 days in advance as more and more pilgrims start on their camino every day now as we have hit the 180 km mark. "Bussloads" with people arrive and start walking in groups mainly with small day-packs as their luggage is wheeled to the next place. A group of some 15 Chech college kids were walking past me loudly praying the rosary....
A bunch of elderly Germans enjoying them selves, taking pictures and stopping at every café for something to eat and drink. From Villafranca del Bierzo the scenery has changed and we are again walking in the mountains which is great, but tiresome in the heat of the day.
The 18th we walked to O Cebreiro, a small picturesque village high up in the mountains at 1280 m. It seems to have been rebuilt to serve the pilgrims on the Camino. A heavy climb from las Herrerias at 700 m straight up on a very dusty path. A beautiful scenery all the way up. Luckily there were plenty of places to rest and get a bite and fill up the water bottles.
