8 May Bouriot Bergonce - Gailleres 28 km E
8 mei 2017
8th of May is liberation day in France and a national holiday and indeed did we see some festivities in Roquefort where we passed through to day. Again a wonderful day for walking through the large pine woods (sapin, vuren, furutrær) of Les Landes. Halfway in Roquefort we take a coffee break and I notice the shinbone of my left leg is swolen a bit and it hurts a wee bit to walk. So the rest of the way to Gailleres I took it very easy trying to spare my left leg as I am afraid to get a serious inflammation. Therefore a change in plans and to morrow only some 14 slow km to Mont de Marsan where I have booked a hotel, maybe for two nights. Janick decided to stay with me and we'll see how it goes. Gives me a chance to buy some 2 % Voltaren which is also good against inflamation. So fingers crossed.
In Gailleres we were welcomed in the private home of a lady who bought a house in this remote area on the pilgrim route so she could specifically receive and care for pilgrims. She prepared a lovely and copious meal (Algerien kitchen) and had plenty of stories to tell. She also washed our dirty laundry (great!) Other guests are again Marlies, Jan en Jaap, another Dutchman by the name of Hans (Captieux) and Dutch Netty whom I already knew from Limoges. Good company, good food and good wine. What more can a pilgrim desire?
It's 21:15 and all have gone to rest, so I bid you all a good night.

Toytoy
Goede wandeling gewenst voor vandaag. Mooi weer?
Liefs.
Liefs!
Nu eerst maar even uitrusten.................prettige avond. Morgen weer een nieuwe dag.
