6 May Brouqueran - Captieux 29 km E

7 mei 2017

We have been making good prosess to day and we could be in At Jean Pied du Port around the 15th of May if we keep going.
Today an early start as we had a long trip ahead and the first 9 km along a D-road with some fast driving traffic. The remaining km however were along an old railway track through wooded lands. Halfway on the track we had a close encounter with 3 lose and very aggressive dogs of which two I guess may have had some relation to a pittbullterrier. Luckily one of them was criple and couldn't run fast, but the other one was ferocious and was going after my uncovered calv muscels however thin they may appear. I backen up and waived frantically with my sticks and even hit all three of them, but they didn't give up. Luckily Janick came to my aid and together we managed to get passed shouting and waiving. Pffff. In the consternation I fell backwards over the root of a big tree tring to keep the barking and glefsing dogs away and ripped my shorts. I have mended them now with use of my military issue sowing kit. I was shaking a bit afterwords, so we decided to take a short break. ....
When we finally arrived at the Pelerin refuge in Captieux it appeared the place was overbooked and Janick and me are to sleep outside to night on camping beds. Althpugh no rain is expected the prospect of sleeping outside is not the best one, bit we'll give it a go....
Now we go for a mesl into town.
Good evening!
