15 april Gargilesse - Crozant 20 km

15 april 2017

Overcast, but good temp for walking. Janick an me set off to Eguzon where we again split an said farewell as Janick would meet his wife on the local camping later that day. She was driving their camper from the Champagne to this place and they would stay there for Easter. As the Petit Déjeuner at the hotel was a bit meager for me I was very hungry at 14:00 hrs and I had a steak and fries for lunch in Eguzon while Janick looked at me eating.
The Chemin took us through lovely but hilly and demanding terrain with rivers to cross and with a lot of descends an ascends and I would recommend to limit the distances in this kind of country side to 20 km or less per day. Be it that my left foot was hurting me all the time I was quite tired when I arrived at the refuge. Yesterday Janick and me got acquinted with a German pilgrim called Franz and we had a couple of beers together in Gargilesse. To day he turned up at the refuge an hour after me and we had a pleasant evening and a couple of beers together with a good conversation about all sorts of things but first of all he is an experienced camino pilgrim who has walked the Camino several times.
To morrow we'll walk together as we have reserved beds in the same place.

To day 29918 steps and 1533 calories (?)
Good nicht a fine Easter to every one.
Paul

Are you sure that you should keep on walking without having a physician look at that foot? (Hope they didn't steal your Helsetrygdkort.) I have never been to France during Easter, but understand from your blog that as a "pays laïque", they don't even keep the French postal offices closed on Good Friday. I would expect something special to celebrate Easter Sunday, though? Anyway : Happy Easter!

    Hallo Paul ,

Paque is here mainly Sunday and Monday, but then, in the country side at last, every thing is closed and I have only some bread and a sausage. Hopefully I can bargain for some wine or beer from the owner of the refuge I am staving. ...
