30 - 31 May Belorado - Villafranca Montes de Oca - Atapuerca 32 km

31 mei 2017

Yesterday we walked mainly besides the highway to Villafranca and it was a bit noisy because of heavy traffic. As we were walking at between 900 and 1000 m altitude, we walked most of the time in the clouds. Good temperature but a little moist. We stayed in a hostel with 2 beds to a room which was quite comfortable. We had dinner with the three Dutch people, whom I've know for quite some time now, Marlies, Jan and Jaap and we all had a very pleasant evening with too much wine.
Today started with a climb of some 200 m, but it was a fine day for walking and we really enjoyed all of the 19 km to Atapuerqua which led us through a pine wood far away from the road. Again we passed our Polish friends Marian and Mathias and we other wise keep seeing a lot of people we have met and spoken with before. Among others a group of 6 Dutch whom I already met in Nájera. A big happy family moving like a wave along the Camino. Some people moving faster, others slower, but often ending up at the same place for the night.
Tomorrow 24 km to Burgos.
Hans is already sleeping in the bed besides me at 21:45, so I'll say good night.

Liefs.

Thanks for the update! Not too many Norwegians along the way, huh? I just looked up Burgos on Wikipedia, stopping in such a big city seems quite different from most of your experiences this far. Wishing you a good night's sleep and a pleasant and blessed walk tomorrow!

Canal say I have seen any Norwegians at all. Some Swedish women on the road and they are even glad to meet somebody who understands their language....
Burgos is a lovely city, worth a visit. Lots of people in the street and we had some real good tapas tonight.
