18 april Mailletatd - Chatelus le Marcheix 23/392 km E
18 april 2017
It is now the third day that I am walking alone and it gets a little bit boring, so I hope to meet a fellow pilgrim soon. Anyway I was back on the trail again at Arrènes. Hurray! Went past two young french lady pilgrims this afternoon, but they were very slow and are staying overnight some other place, so no solace there. A good climb of some 200 m and dowm again from Saint Goussaud to Chatelus. The pain in my left foot seems to creep upward to my shinbone and I'm shit scared to get tendonitus. So to morrow a short stretch of 16 km...
I'm staying at the communal gitte for 10 Euro and since there is no restaurant in this village, they have fortunately some canned food standing. I have been looking all day for a place to drink a cup of coffee, but no such luck. Met a british couple (Gordon from Scotland) upon my arrival in the village and they offered me spontaneously a beer. Very nice and went down well with a lot of cosy chit chat. They bought a house here in the street and are also offering accommodation for pilgrims. Also last night I stayed with an english couple who incidentally also had an American couple staying who were looking to buy property. The French are moving out to the cities and the foreigners are moving into the country side. In fact the british couple here to day told me that a lot of Dutch people owned houses in the area. Must be bargain prices haha.
For the record, I have according to the book so far walked 392 km. To day 33119 steps and 1720 calories burnt.
God natt!
