26 april La Coquille - Thiviers 19 km E
26 april 2017
A short trip again. We did it in ''record time'' of 4 hrs. We just had to keep going as it was very cold me walking in shorts (!) A cold wind blowing from the North and only 3 degrees C. And I just threw my gloves away the other day to save weight. Not the smartest idea it appears as I was freezing cold on both hands all the way. No villages on the way either so just keep walking. The path led us mainly through woods and over fields, the birds were singing like there is no tomorrow, so all together it was still enjoyable.
Jean Paul, the host of the refuge de pelerin I La Coquille had prepared a genereus Pot au Feu yesterday and we enjoyed the meal with Ulf from Germany, Godefrot from France and Bas from Holland and of course 75 year old Jean Paul who appeared very knowledgable on the Camino, history and geography.
Forgot to mention yesterday that it rained quite a bit upon our arrival, so we got to test our rain gear which seems to hold good. To be honest , we can do without rain and low temperatures on this trip.
To night Bas, Janick and me are staying in a simple hytte on the local camping for 10 Euro a piece.
To day 25484 steps and 1270 calories.
Have a nice evening.
