29 april Perigeux - St Astiers ca 20 km

To day a good couple of km to get out of urban Perigeux with a lot of traffic on a Saturday morning. Later on we walked a lot through lovely woods albeit with heavy climbs and descends in the direction of St Astiers. Again a fine and sunny day for walking, the coo coo bird never far away. Bas whom departed later than us from Perigeux caught up with Janick and me after a while when we took a break to have something to eat and the interesting discussion I had with Bas for the next 7 or 8 km made me forget I was walking and developing a blister om my left small toe. The talk actually energized me while Janick led the way. After a small beer on a terrace in Anesse Bas said good bye and we continued a couple more km when we got picked up by car by madame Rathier who put her house at the disposition of pelerins in L'Eperon. Here we had the honour of getting better aquainted with 3 other dutch people whom we had met briefly the evening before in Perigeux. Jan, maried with Marlies and friend of the family Jaap all members of the local walking club in Hendrik Ido Ambacht. Chapeau for these good (definitivly not young) people who have been walking from Reims in just 5 weeks and will continue to Santiago. Good stories around the dinner table and some translating to do for Janick all accompanied with a lot of wine ( I think in the end it came to a botle each!) A big thank you to madame Rathier for great hospitality and a good 3 course meal.
