6 June Carrión de los Condes - Lédigos 25 km

6 juni 2017

Today started with a long stretch of 17 km to a place called: Calzadilla de la Cueza without any villages or fascilities on the trail through a vast, flat country side covered with corn fields as far as the eye can see and without any refuge from the sun. Today there was a cooling breeze from the West, without which it would have been very hot indeed. Hans did the stretch again by taxi because of the blisters and was waiting for me ready with a beer upon my arrival at 14:30 or so. I kept a good pace today of some 4 km/hr on average and was glad to rest my sore and tired feet.
Sometimes when I walk through a beautiful countryside for hours on end, and the body feels good, I wish the walk would last longer, but at the same time I find I would like to arrive at my destination because I'm tired and would like to come to rest. These are very much contradicting thoughts and it is kind of funny to experience. No big deal though....
Hans' blisters are healing slowly and we hope that he'll be able to walk normally again in a couple of days.
Tomorrow a short leg of some 14 - 15 km to Sahagún.

Hi Paul oh de Via Aquitana, de oude Romeinse weg, een mooi stuk Meseta!
Het begint op te schieten hé! Lekker genieten nog, het is gedaan voor je er erg in hebt! Buen Camino

Too bad that Hans currently cannot walk, wishing him best of luck with the healing! Despite all the challenges, I am certain that you will miss the camino when the walk is over! Now you must see the end of it all. Hope you both will enjoy the rest of this wonderful experience!

    Thx IJ,
Yes, I have the feeling the end is in sight, but that is just an illusion I think. There are still 372 km to walk and I remember when I started that the first 200 km lastet sort of endlessly, so we are not there yet and I like that idea. But no matter, we'll be there at the end of the month. I hope Hans will be able to walk again tomorrow or the day after...
    Have a nice day
